Topps has finalized plans for the new version of National Baseball Card Day. As they first announced in March, the event will now be called International Trading Card Day as the promotion expands overseas.
Not much is changing in the United States, though. Collectors who visit a hobby shop on Saturday, August 6 will receive a free pack of five International Trading Card Day Topps cards.
Those who purchase $10 or more of Topps or Bowman branded products that day will receive an exclusive Shohei Ohtani card.
Collectors who return on August 13 and spend another $10 or more will get a special Wander Franco card.
The program is expanding to Japan and parts of Europe this year and Topps is adding UEFA Champions and Garbage Pail Kids packs to the free giveaway.
Shops have to purchase the packs to give away to customers at a cost of about 50 cents per pack and cases will include a mix of the three different packs. Although baseball will be most prevalent, it might not be a bad idea to arrive early if you want make sure you get an MLB pack.
