Topps’ line of products showcasing current college athletes will continue this year, but for the first time, at least some of the cards will feature school logos and other trademarks. Bryce Young and the red “A” for Alabama? Yes. Caleb Williams and the interlocking cardinal and gold “SC”? Yup.
2022 Bowman Chrome University Football will be the first Topps release to showcase logos for some collegiate powerhouses. The release date is Feb. 22. A checklist is below.
Like other Chrome branded products, 2022 University will carry 24 packs of four cards with a typical box containing two autographs. Cases will have 12 boxes.

The base set will have 100 cards, but there will be parallels a’plenty.

Topps says there will also be image variations for the base cards but provided no further details.
Inserts
The 70-year anniversary of the 1962 Bowman set gets a modern touch with insert cards that fall four per box, on average.
Ramblin’ Man inserts fall in every eight packs. They’ll highlight “the most elusive, athletic, hole-hitting, ball-spiking skill players ramblin’ their way around the field get their moment to shine,” according to Topps.
Both will have Aqua Refractors numbered to 150, Orange Refractors numbered to 25 and 1/1 SuperFractor parallels.
Other inserts include Bowman Invicta (two per box) which will offer Lava (# to 150), Orange (#to 25) and SuperFractor parallels.
Much rarer are Hobby exclusive “The Big Kahuna” inserts, found just once in 288 packs. There will also be Orange parallels (# to 25) and SuperFractors.
Autographs
Chrome Prospect Autographs form the basis of the signed cards inside 2022 Bowman University Football, with numerous parallels possible, including:

Prime Chrome Signatures will be numbered to 50, 25 (Orange) or 1/1 (SuperFractor).
The insert sets will also have autographed versions with Invicta and Ramblin’ Man and autos numbered to 99 (along with the Orange and SuperFractor versions).
The Big Kahuna autos will be produced with varying serial numbers but also have the same parallels. It’s safe to say the Big Kahuna SuperFractors will be among the big hits.
