In a normal year, it’s among the more affordable brands on the baseball card calendar. What price points will be when it arrives later this year is anyone’s guess but we do know 2021 Topps Gold Label Baseball will be fairly consistent with what the product has been since it returned to the landscape six years ago.
2021 Topps Gold Label Configuration and Base Set
The hobby edition of Gold Label will offer seven five-card packs with one framed autograph per box.
The base set is a little unusual in that it features a 100-card base set, but each player will come in three different levels of scarcity as well as five different parallels of each. Class 1 is the most common. Class 2 cards fall one per pack and a card from Class 3 will be found in every other pack.
Distribution of the parallel cards will be as follows:
Black Parallel
Class 1 – 1:2 packs
Class 2 – 1:6 packs
Class 3 – 1:20 packs
Blue Parallel
Class 1 – #’d to 150
Class 2 – #’d to 99
Class 3 – #’d to 50
Purple Parallel
Class 1 – #’d to 99
Class 2 – #’d to 75
Class 3 – #’d to 35
Red Parallel
Class 1 – #’d to 75
Class 2 – #’d to 50
Class 3 – #’d to 25
Gold Parallel
Class 1 – #’d 1 of 1
Class 2 – #’d 1 of 1
Class 3 – #’d 1 of 1
Autographs
The Framed Autographs are Gold Label’s calling card. Signed directly on-card and surrounded by a gold-colored metal frame, they’ll come with four parallels:
• Black Parallel – #’d to 75
• Blue Parallel – #’d to 50
• Red Parallel – #’d to 25
• Gold Parallel – #’d 1 of 1
Dual autographed versions feature two players and two signatures on the same card. They’ll be tough to pull with base versions numbered to only 10 along with Black (# to 5) and 1/1 Gold parallel versions in the works.
New this year are Auric Framed Autographs, which feature gold foilboard stock and autographs signed in gold ink. They’ll be limited to 25 or less.
Golden Greats Framed Autograph Jumbo Relics pair an on-card auto with a jumbo sized game-used relic piece. Base versions will be numbered to 50 or less with Black and Gold parallels possible.
Relic Cards
Memorabilia cards aren’t a huge part of Gold Label, but they’ll be there. MLB Legends Relics will be made up of game-used memorabilia pieces from former MLB stars. Base versions are numbered to 50 or less with Black and Gold parallels possible.
Gold Prospect Relic Cards feature younger players with cards containing “real gold nuggets” according to Topps. They’ll be numbered to 25 or less, again with Black and Gold parallels.
The release date for 2021 Topps Gold Label Baseball is September 17.
