Splashy colors and an artsy-style design will mark the arrival of 2021 Panini Origins Football. As of now the new edition is set for release just ahead of the start of the NFL’s regular season in September.
Each hobby box of Origins holds a single seven-card pack with 16 boxes per case. Boxes should have two autographs including one Rookie Patch, one Jumbo or Patch memorabilia card, two base or rookie cards and two base parallels.
Origins is more about hits, but there is a 100-card base set to collect along with a roster of serial-numbered parallels including:
Base Red #’d/299
Base Orange #’d/175
Base Blue #’d/99
Base Silver #’d/79
Base Turquoise #’d/25
Base Gold #’d/10
Base Green #’d/5
Base Black #’d 1/1
Panini touts Origins as having the first on-card rookie autographs of the 2021 draft class showing them in their professional uniforms. Images in this story are mockups from Panini with last season’s rookies shown.
This year’s rookie roster includes quarterbacks such as Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Mac Jones and Justin Fields.
Parallel versions will include:
Red max #’d/99
Blue max #’d/49
Turquoise #’d/25
Gold #’d/10
Green #’d/5
Black #’d 1/1
1/1 Gold Ink Inscriptions will also be part of the mix.
Rookie Jumbo Patch Autographs will be among the main attractions, with a signature and an oversized patch piece.
Rookie Booklet Patch Autographs will have an on-card signature on one side and an oversized patch on the other. They’ll include Gold versions numbered to 25; Gloves versions numbered to 2 and NFL Shield versions that are 1/1.
Rookie Stars Dual Patch Signatures are booklet cards, which will include two on-card autographs as well as a prime swatch of memorabilia from each player. Gold versions will be max #’d/10; Green will be max #’d/5 and 1/1 Black versions will also be possible.
Passing Stars, Rushing Stars and Receiving Stars will also feature autographs of the coming season’s rookies. Passing Stars will have 1/1 Black parallels.
New autograph sets this year include Established Signatures and Origins of Greatness Booklets.
Also new is a case hit called Aboriginal, which “features the NFL’s top stars printed over an early indigenous-style pattern,” according to Panini.
2021 Panini Origins is currently set for release on September 8.
