The Allen & Ginter set that Topps puts out annually is one of its most wide-ranging issues, with baseball stars and rookies sharing center stage with politicians, inventors, and pop culture icons. For the second straight year, Topps is putting out a shiny version. 2021 Topps Allen & Ginter Chrome arrives just prior to the holidays.
2021 Topps Allen & Ginter Chrome Configuration and Base Set
A hobby box will contain 18 packs, with four cards to a pack. There will be a mini card in every pack, along with six base refractors and seven inserts in each hobby box. An X-Fractor will be a case hit, and Blue Refractors will be numbered to 150. Mini cards will have Gold Refractors, numbered to 50, and Orange Refractors numbered to 25.
The base set will contain 300 cards, and the card design will be the same as the regular A&G set.
Because the set is chrome, collectors can expect a variety of refractors. In addition to the X-Fractor and Blue Refractors, the A&G set offers Green (numbered to 99), Gold (50), Orange (25), Red (5) and 1/1 SuperFractors.
In addition to the Gold and Orange mini parallels, refractors will also be found in Red (numbered to 5) and 1/1 SuperFractors.
Inserts
Inserts will take the form of mini-cards, and there are three different versions. The Rookie Design Variation cards take current first-year players and place them in previous A&G designs. World Leaders highlights some of the world’s dominant powers, while World’s Largest explores some of the world’s largest items.
The latter two insert sets are also in the regular A&G summer issue.
AutographsAutograph cards are case hits, but they differ from the summer issue. Whereas the “regular” A&G autographs are in a framed mini-autograph format, the chrome version will be on a full card, with on-card signatures.
Autograph cards will also have parallels, with an Orange Refractor numbered to 25, along with Red (5) and a 1/1 SuperFractor.
