One of the more artistic efforts of their yearly baseball calendar, 2020 Topps Inception will again be a pre-season release. Shifted last year from a summer staple to one of the first products of the new season, the configuration won’t change much. Inception will once again offer a guaranteed autograph.
A full checklist is below.
Box breaks won’t take long with each one pack box offering seven cards, one of which will be either a standard autograph or auto relic. Two others will be base card parallels.
Each case guarantees four Inception Autograph Patch cards, one Silver Signings autograph card and one autographed Jumbo Patch or Autographed Jumbo Hat Patch card.
The 100-card base set will have gold fonts with color splotches set against a white background. Parallels will include:
Green Parallel (unnumbered)
Purple Parallel: Seq #’d to 150
Magenta Parallel: Seq #’d to 99
Red Parallel: Seq #’d to 75
Orange Parallel: Seq #’d to 50
Blue Parallel: Seq #’d to 25
Inception Parallel: Seq #’d 1/1
Printing Plates: Seq #’d to 1/1
On-Card Autographs
Base Rookies & Emerging Stars Autographs will be numbered to 299 with these lower numbered parallels also in the mix:
Magenta Parallel: Seq #’d to 99
Red Parallel: Seq #’d to 75
Orange Parallel: Seq #’d to 50
Blue Parallel: Seq #’d to 25
Inception Parallel: Seq #’d 1/1
Inception Silver Signings will focus on young stars and rookies signing the cards in silver ink. The base versions will be numbered to 100 or less with these parallels:
Gold Ink Parallel: Seq #’d to 25
Gold Ink Inception Parallel: Seq #’d 1/1
New this year are Dawn of Greatness Autographs, which show off the “beginnings of some of the most legendary careers in MLB history,” according to Topps. They’ll be numbered to 20 with Orange (# to 10); Blue (# to 5) and Inception (1/1) parallels.
Image variations will be part of the 2020 Inception autograph checklist, with all numbered to 10.
Autographed Patch Cards
Each case will have four auto patches. Topps says late 2019 MLB call-ups and other young rising stars will be the focus here with a jersey patch piece and autograph. All versions will be numbered including:
Magenta Parallel: Seq #’d
Red Parallel: Seq #’d to 25
Orange Parallel: Seq #’d to 10
Blue Parallel: Seq #’d to 6 – Uniform Buttons
Inception Parallel: Seq #’d 1/1 – Majestic Jersey Sleeve Logo
Inception Autograph Jumbo Patch cards will fall one per case with these parallels:
Orange Parallel: Seq #’d to 25
Blue Parallel: Seq #’d to 10
Inception Parallel: Seq #’d 1/1 – Team Logo
Inception Autographed Jumbo Hat Patch cards will showcase a type of logo found on MLB caps and be numbered to 5.
Inception Autographed Team Logo Patch Book cards will be highlighted by giant patches but they’ll be very tough to pull, with each numbered only to 2. Laundry Tag versions will be 1/1.
Inception Autographed Letters Book cards will utilize uniform nameplate patch pieces. These will also be numbered to 2 with the MLB logo patch from jersey collars numbered 1/1.
New this year are Inception Dual Autographed Relic Book cards, which will showcase two young MLB stars with autographs and memorabilia pieces from each. Most will be numbered to 3 but there will be 1/1 parallels.
Also new will be Game Socks Relics, which pair rising stars and rookies with Stance team socks and autographs. They’ll be numbered to 25 with 1/1 Stance Logo parallels.
