Topps is adding a new product to its baseball release calendar. 2020 Chrome Black will arrive November 25, giving the familiar brand a new look.
The company calls the Chrome Black card stock a “new tech mixture of black matte & chrome.”
While the product will carry the Chrome name, it won’t duplicate the regular Chrome set. It’s a fairly straightforward issue with a fairly small checklist and no memorabilia cards. A complete checklist is available for download below.
2020 Topps Chrome Black Configuration and Base Set
Chrome Black will be a one pack per box product, with 12 boxes per case. Each box/pack will have four cards: an encased autograph, two base cards and a numbered Refractor parallel.
The base set will be only 100 cards–much smaller than the standard Chrome base set–but with only two base cards per pack, it’ll take some work to finish. Refractor parallels include:
• Refractor– #’d to 199
• Green Refractor- #’d to 99
• Blue Refractor – #’d to 75
• Gold Refractor – #’d to 50
• Orange Refractor- #’d to 25
• Red Refractor- #’d to 10
• Red Refractor – #’d to 5
• SuperFractor – #’d 1-of-1
Autographs
The autograph rundown is fairly simple with just two main elements in play.
Topps Chrome Black Autographs will include rookies, veterans and retired players. Six parallels are in play here:
• Refractor Parallel – #’d to 150
• Green Refractor Parallel – #’d to 99
• Gold Refractor Parallel – #’d to 50
• Orange Refractor Parallel – #’d to 25
• Red Refractor Parallel – #’d to 5
• SuperFractor Parallel – #’d 1-of-1
Super Futures Autographs will focus on “the most promising young phenoms,” according to Topps. Each will be numbered to 99 or less including:
• Gold Refractor Parallel – #’d to 50
• Orange Refractor Parallel – #’d to 25
• Red Refractor Parallel – #’d to 5
• SuperFractor Parallel – #’d 1-of-1
Boxes are ranging from $200-$240 in online pre-sales.
