The black is back. Panini’s 2020 Obsidian Football is scheduled to make its return on December 23 with a heavy dose of dark, glossy cards. This product’s content is all about volcanoes and space–a little different but the end result is generally pretty striking.
2020 Panini Obsidian Configuration and Base Set
Printed on black Opti-chrome stock, Obsidian is a higher-end product, but not too high end.
Just as it did last year, Obsidian will be a one pack per box product with each pack containing seven cards, four of which are hits. The breakdown also includes two inserts and parallels and one base card. Cases will carry 12 boxes.
The base set will include 200 cards with a checklist of 100 rookies and the other 100 showcasing popular veterans and former greats.

New for 2020 are short-printed Color Blast Black inserts. They’re a takeoff on the Color Blast insert from Prizm. They’ll be case hits along with Contra.
