One of the hobby’s longest running 21st century products is set to return for another season. 2020 Panini Contenders Football will arrive at the tail end of the NFL season, with its familiar ticket-style look.
The content remains consistent from year to year and 2020 is no different with 18 packs per box, six cards per pack and 12 boxes per case. Most boxes will have five autographs, with one of those hard-signed.
Also included in each hobby box will be 18 inserts (one per pack) and one parallel.
Contenders is best known for its Rookie Ticket cards, which carry autographs that tend to carry strong long-term value. Parallels include Rookie Ticket Stub (max #’d/99), Rookie Playoff Ticket (max #’d /99), Rookie Championship Ticket (max #’d /49), Rookie Cracked Ice Ticket (#’d /22) and Super Bowl Ticket (#’d 1/1). Clear Ticket autographs are printed on clear acetate and include on-card autographs. The Mosaic parallels for Rookie Clear Tickets are back for 2020.
Season Ticket is where you’ll find the veterans that appear in the base set. They’ll have a few parallels including:
Playoff Ticket #’d /199
Championship Ticket #’d /99
Cracked Ice Ticket #’d /22
Super Bowl Ticket #’d /1
More autograph content will be found in the 2000 Rookie Ticket RPS subset. A throwback to the year that gave us Tom Brady’s most popular rookie card, the 2020 version will include on-card autographs from this year’s rookies.
Panini has again secured autographs from some Hall of Famers for its Contenders to Canton Autograph set.
Autographs will also be found in NFL Ink, Legendary Contenders Autographs, MVP Contenders Autographs and Coaches Tickets, which have returned to the checklist after an absence.
Inserts will include Rookie of the Year Contenders, MVP Contenders, Round Numbers, Winning Ticket and others that will be known once the product arrives.
Parallels for Rookie of the Year Contenders, MVP Contenders and Winning Ticket include Silver #’d /149, Gold #’d /49 and Platinum #’d /25.
The release date for 2020 Contenders Football hobby boxes is January 22. You can see them for sale and auction here.
