Panini America has fixed the 2022 Panini National Treasures Signature Materials card that had a George Brett autograph instead of Babe Ruth’s.
The card was pulled by a collector who purchased a pack from Bob’s Sports Cards in Howell, NJ last month.
Shop owner Bob Colello told us he reached out to Panini and the company told him it would fix the issue immediately. On Monday, Panini indicated it had replaced the Brett autograph with the correct autograph.
“An assembly error, involving a Babe Ruth cut auto from 2022 NT Baseball, was recently brought to our attention,” the company stated. “We contacted the collector, received the original card, created a new card with a new Ruth cut auto, that is shipping to the collector this week.”
Panini also revealed the document from where the Ruth autograph was cut and placed into the card. A Lou Gehrig signature was directly above it.
