Upper Deck National Hockey Card Day in the United States and Canada returns on Saturday, February 15.
The long-running program offers free packs of NHCD cards and special promotions at participating hobby shops across North America. Heavily attended in areas where the NHL is popular, the promotion is designed as a mid-winter “celebration of hockey” according to Upper Deck, which offers support to shops who purchase the free packs to give away to customers. Shops usually have their own promotions and giveaways as part of the event.
Lists of participating shops in the U.S. and Canada are below.
The packs will carry cards from a 15-card base set—one focused on Canadian players and the other on U.S. players. The sets will include a five card subset focused on rookies. Other cards will include cards featuring current and former stars.
Victory Black Rookies will be a five-card set while a five-card mascot set is also in the mix.
Those who make an in store purchase of Upper Deck cards totaling $10 or more will get a 16th card. In the U.S., the bonus “Rookie Moments” card will feature the debut of Jack Hughes (#NHCD-16) while in Canada, the card will showcase Quinn Hughes’ inaugural game with the Vancouver Canucks.
Autographed cards will again be randomly seeded into packs. We know that the U.S. autographs will include Brock Boeser (Vancouver Canucks), Joe Pavelski (Dallas Stars) and Taro Hirose (Detroit Red Wings).
Uncut sheets of NHCD cards will again be available in Canada at London Drugs, Hockey Life and Toys R Us stores.
