Topps is releasing its latest online exclusive baseball product this week. 2020 Bowman Sapphire puts a higher-end look on the regular Bowman set. Unlike Bowman, however, you won’t find any veterans on the checklist. It’s all about the youngsters.
The first boxes were sold to 582 Montgomery Club members on Tuesday with the rest of the public getting a crack at it on Wednesday on Topps’ website. Boxes were priced at $149.99 with a limit of two and sold out quickly.
Each 2020 Bowman Sapphire box has 32 cards and includes one base parallel and one Prospect Autograph.
Base cards carry a gold foil stamp with several parallels possible including:
- Orange Sapphire: #’d to 50.
- Purple Sapphire Parallel: #’d to 25.
- Red Sapphire Parallel: #’d to 10.
- Papradascha Superfractor – 1/1
The autograph checklist includes 57 different players, highlighted by Jasson Dominguez, Bobby Witt Jr., and Adley Rutschman.
Autograph parallels include:
- Green Sapphire: #’d to 50.
- Orange Sapphire: #’d to 25.
- Purple Sapphire: #’d to 10.
- Red Sapphire: #’d to 5.
- Papradascha Superfractor: 1/1
Not every Montgomery Club member was successful landing a box. There was a limit of two, but heavy traffic to Topps’ website frustrated some potential buyers. Some who did get their orders confirmed have now listed them on eBay.
Production for 2020 Bowman Sapphire appears to be fairly limited.
Update: You can check out some box breaks here.
