In a year when not much felt normal, one thing hasn’t changed. There will be plenty of online shopping done in late November. Collectors and their gift givers are busy again chasing Black Friday sports card and memorabilia deals starting now through Cyber Monday and beyond. Many outlets offer special pricing and discounts you don’t typically see during the rest of the year.
It’ll be a huge year for online shopping, in part because of the pandemic. According to Ignite Visibility, more than half of consumers plan to spend the same– or more– this year. Some of that, no doubt, will be finding holiday gifts for sports fans.
On social media, there have been 783,000 mentions of Black Friday (plus Small biz Saturday, Cyber Monday, and Black Shop Friday) on social media as of late Tuesday, generating 5.4 million engagements. Mentions are essentially doubling every week – 30,000 mentions on Tuesday Nov 10, became 60,000 mentions on Tuesday Nov 17 etc., Talkwalker reports. Compared to last year, 54% of people will be shopping more on Amazon this year.
We’ve once again tracked down some of the sports collectible offers and promotions that will be going on during Thanksgiving weekend including Thursday, Black Friday, Cyber Monday (and the rest of the holiday shopping season). Some merchants have already begun offering discounts.

One of the most active online retailers for sports collectibles will be SportsMemorabilia.com, a subsidiary of Fanatics, which offers a massive amount of autographed memorabilia. I mean, who wouldn’t like to have this autographed photo of Larry Bird smoking a cigar with Red Auerbach?
They also have hundreds of different display cases for autographs, sports card boxes and cases, vintage cards, complete sets and even some game-used material and stadium seats.
As for current boxes of cards, there are plenty–but not a lot of bargains. They do have Upper Deck Series 1 hockey retail boxes (24 packs) with the possible Alex Lafreniere Young Guns cards at $69.99. In fact, there are several Upper Deck boxes from various years and sports you can snare for you–or someone’s stocking–for under $50.
They’ll often offer as much as 30% off at this time of year on some items. Just type in the discount code that pops up on the website when you check out. Some items are priced a bit high, but there are plenty of decent deals to be had and a huge variety of stuff.
That same deal will be available through Monday through Fanatics, which offers apparel and other fan gear in addition to collectibles. They’ve got some bonus deals on gift cards and purchases over $50 that will put some “Fan Cash” in your Fanatics account to use on other stuff.
Looking for deals on current Topps baseball products? The company typically offers specials on the company’s website but the unprecedented demand for products this year means quick sellouts are a regular occurrence.
They do have some free cards to give away and special discounts. It might be worth checking on Monday to see if a rather thin inventory may be restocked.
Baseball Card Exchange is offering discounts through their online store, which includes vintage wax boxes and packs. If you spend over $200, use code 5%BF2020 and you’ll get 5% off your entire order. If you spend over $1000, use code 10%BF2020 for 10% off.
The sale will end Saturday, Nov. 28.
Steel City Collectibles has hundreds of items marked down through Monday.
The deals include a variety of unopened boxes and cases across all sports and other items.
FOCO is offering discounts their always creative sports bobbleheads and other fun sports stuff now through Cyber Monday.
Hunt Auctions’ web store is offering 30% off orders through Monday.
Steiner Sports, now under the Fanatics umbrella, is offering discounted prices on autographed memorabilia and other items.
If you buy sports cards (or anything else) at Target, you can get 5% cash back each purchase by using the company’s Red Card which can be obtained here.
You can also shop their online store which has free shipping and returns.
eBay sellers will sometimes discount items in anticipation of the holiday shopping season. If you can’t find what you’re looking for in the eBay sports memorabilia/fan shop, you’re not looking hard enough. They’ve got a 5% cash back eBay Bucks offer right now for some users.
Some COMC sellers have put the cards in their inventory on sale while buyers will get 5% back on purchases.
Collect game-worn jerseys and similar material? MeiGray’s annual holiday event is always a biggie on the company’s website,especially for hockey fans.
You can find just about anything on Amazon and in addition to the usual electronics and other offers, they will usually have deals on sports cards and memorabilia, which are located here. Individual dealers who sell through Amazon may also be listing specials.
Amazon Prime members can get their orders within a couple of days…and if you have a Discovercard, you’ll get 5% cash back in the month of November when you use it to pay for your Amazon purchase.
Beckett is offering deals on its price guide subscriptions and other titles, including Vintage Collector magazine.
As usual, Blowout Cards will have Black Friday and Cyber Monday specials on cases and boxes, both current and from the recent past.
And, of course, don’t forget to visit your local card shop. There won’t be any free Black Friday or Cyber Monday pack giveaways because of COVID-19’s impact on trading card production at Panini but some stores are offering special deals to customers either online or in store. Many are still offering curbside pickup.
