Four weeks after the NBA tips off its new season and a week after the arrival of its Hoops product, Panini’s 2020-21 Certified Basketball is scheduled to land online and at hobby shops.
Thanks to the unusual times we’re living in, it’s still too early for the company to offer images of what this season’s rookies will look like inside the annual release but Panini can give us a look at the design and some of the cards that will be inside. They’re again using last season’s first year players to showcase the design of some of the new season’s rookie cards (get used to that).
2020-21 Panini Certified Configuration and Base Set
Carrying an SRP of around $100, Certified hobby boxes will carry 10 packs with five cards per pack. Each case will contain 12 boxes.
Look for two autographs per box, with one featuring a 2020-21 rookie. The rest of the box will contain an average of ten parallels along with eight inserts or insert parallels and a stack of base cards.
Base Set
Certified delivers a 200-card checklist with 150 veterans and 50 rookies with parallel verions that include Mirror versions numbered all the way down to 1/1.
Inserts
With eight of the 50 cards in each box being inserts or insert parallels, there will be several different themes in Certified. Among them: Gold Team, Gold Team Rookies, 2020 and The Mighty, which is back on the checklist this year.
Autographs
Freshman Fabric and Rookie Roll Call will be the main draws here with current and former greats featured in Legendary Autographs. All three will only be found in hobby boxes.
As usual, look for numerous parallel versions once the checklist comes out closer to release day. Some will be 1/1.
