A part of the annual release schedule since its 2006 debut, Topps Allen & Ginter will return this summer with the 2019 edition arriving on July 17.
A nod to the 19th century cards of the same name, Ginter is part baseball, part history and part entertainment. There are usually a few surprises on the checklist as well.
2019 Topps Allen & Ginter Basics and Base Set
Ginter will pack three hits per 24-pack box, but it’s more of a set builder’s product than one designed for hit chasers. Each pack will have seven cards and one mini.
Once again, look for a 350 card base set, with 50 of those being short prints. There will be 1/1 Glossy parallels of all 350 cards and hot boxes will hold Silver Portrait parallels.
There will be plenty of parallels in the mini version of the set. While each pack will have one of those cards, some could be from this list:
• Allen & Ginter Parallel – 1:5 packs
• Black Bordered – 1:10 packs
• No Number – Limited to 50
• Brooklyn Back – Numbered to 25
• Wood – Numbered 1-of-1 (hobby boxes only)
• Glossy – Numbered 1-of-1
The short printed mini cards will have these parallels to chase:
• Base Mini Parallel – 1:13 packs
• Allen & Ginter Parallel – 1:65 packs
• Black Bordered – 1:30 packs
• No Number – Limited to 50
• Brooklyn Back – Numbered to 25
• Wood – Numbered 1-of-1 (hobby boxes)
• Glossy – Numbered 1-of-1
The mini sized Metals and Stained Glass checklists will be limited to 150 subjects each and all carrying low serial numbers.
Framed Mini parallels will have 1/1 Printing Plate parallels and Cloth cards numbered to 10.
Relic Cards and Originals
Full Size Relics will feature current baseball players, “world champion athletes” and “personalities” according to Topps.
Framed Mini Relics will feature current rookies and stars.
New this year are Presidential Pieces Mini Relics will feature memorabilia from past presidents and the White House, with each numbered to 25 and only available in hobby boxes.
DNA Mini Relics will highlight ancient fossils while the new Arrowhead Relics will put full-sized arrowheads into a card, with each numbered to 5. “Have Ball, Will Travel” Token Relics will pair current and retire players with mass transit tokens from their team cities. Each will be numbered to 5.
Collectors will have the chance to pull an original Allen & Ginter card from the 19th century in Framed Originals.
