August and September promise to be busy times for those who like to rip football cards. Several products are in the pipeline for the start of a new season including 2019 Panini XR.
Back for a third straight year, XR’s content is pretty straight forward. Each box (around $100) has two packs of seven cards. On average, each box should have two autographs (one guaranteed Rookie Autograph Jersey), one memorabilia card, one Jumbo Swatch or Triple Swatch jersey card, one insert, four parallels, four base cards and two rookies.
Each 15-box case will pack a one-of-one Patch Autograph.
According to Panini, the XR Base set “is one of the best looking sets of the year.” Created on a dull holographic card stock, base cards will be numbered with several different color variations ranging from Red (# to 299) to Black (1/1) and there will also be 1/1 Printing Plates. There will be 100 rookies in the base set.
Autographed Relic Cards
There will be a few different autograph relic subsets featuring 2019 draftees with a bunch of 1/1 possibilities that include NFL and Nike logos, laundry tags, team logos, draft hats, shoes, gloves and footballs. Rookie XL Swatch Autographs have large swatches paired with an autograph. Parallels include Red (# to 75); Blue (# to 49); Orange (# to 25); Gold (# to 10) and Green (# to 5), but there will be a total of 12 of those 1/1s, too.
Rookie Swatch Autographs will have 11 different 1/1s. There will be other parallels, too, including Blue (# to 75); Orange (# to 49); Gold (# to 25) and Green (# to 10).
Rookie Triple Swatch Autographs will feature three memorabilia pieces and an autograph. Parallels include Red (# to 75); Blue (# to 49); Orange (# to 25); Gold (# to 10), Green (# to 5). There are 12 different 1/1s.
New this year are Rookie Xcellence Autograph Swatches with what Panini calls “a unique X-cut swatch window on a horizontal card.” Look for signed cards of top draftees Kyler Murray, Dwayne Haskins, Daniel Jones, Nick Bosa, Josh Jacobs and DJ Metcalf, among others.
Standard Autographs and Relics
Luminous Endorsements features 40 of the top 2019 rookies with an autograph on acetate. Collectors will see multiple photography angles, highlighting the background of each autograph. There will be parallels that include Blue (# to 49); Orange (# to 25); Gold (# to 10); Green (# to 5) and Black (1/1).
Acclaimed Autographs will have Gold versions numbered to 10 and 1/1 Black versions.
There will be a non-autographed 1/1 NFL Shield set highlighting several stars with an NFL logo patch.
2019 Panini XR is scheduled to release on September 18 but release dates are subject to change, as usual.
