If you need a break from holiday shopping for other people this December, you can spend at least part of one day getting gifts and buying stuff for yourself instead.
2019 National Hobby Shop Day has been scheduled for December 7 with participating stores offering prizes, promotions and free food and drinks. It’s the third year for the promotion, which was designed to spur traffic to brick-and-mortar stores that sometimes see a lull between Black Friday weekend and the week before Christmas.
GTS Distribution, which delivers sports and non-sports cards and other material to stores across the country, is once again serving as the primary sponsor.
Shops that purchase certain cases and boxes from GTS will receive bonus merchandise they can use as giveaways on the day of the event. Among the items stores will give away include autographed jerseys and other signed items, unopened boxes, trading card storage supplies and eBay gift certificates. PSA is offering Silver Collectors Club memberships this year.
Shops who participate also receive promotional support from GTS.
Over 100 sports card shops across the U.S. held National Hobby Shop Day promotions last year.
