What’s become the flagship NFL trading card product returns during training camp. 2019 Donruss football leans on a sizeable base set, plenty of rookie cards and a boatload of inserts and parallels.
With a release date of August 7, Panini will put ten cards in each pack and 18 packs in each Donruss box. There are 18 boxes per hobby case.
Each box should have one autographed card, one memorabilia card, 12 rookies, six Rated Rookies, 12 parallels and a whopping 42 insert cards.
A complete, basic set will include 350 cards: 250 standard base, 50 rookies and 50 of the Rated Rookies, which date back to the product’s baseball genesis in the 1980s.
There will be Photo Variations to chase as well as Canvas versions of the Rated Rookies cards. Each should fall one per box.
Inserts, Autographs and Relics
The Super Bowl champion New England Patriots will be featured on The Champ is Here, a hobby-exclusive 20-card set with autographed versions numbered to 49 or less in the mix.
Fans of the old Action All-Star oversized cards Donruss produced in the 1980s should appreciate the Action All-Pros set, a 1985-style insert that’s new this year (cards will be in the same design, but standard size). There will be autographed versions as well, all numbered to no more than 25.
Likewise, the new Power Formulas inserts will also have autographed versions numbered to 49 or less. According to Panini, the subjects of those cards will be “players that are crucial to a winning football team.”
Only found in hobby boxes, Retro 1999 inserts will have autographs max numbered to 25. Team Supreme and Nicknames are also new and part of the insert roster.
A staple in Donruss returns with All-Time Gridiron Kings inserts, which showcase some of the best players of all-time.
Look for multiple memorabilia cards that include autograph versions including Canton Kings,
Jersey Kings, Leather Kings and All Pro Kings.
Case hits in 2019 Donruss football will include premium stock versions of Team Supreme and Nicknames along with Downtown! and Rated Rookies Premium. Just one of those will be in each of those 18-box hobby cases.
