Here’s another excuse to happily accept that errand run that includes Target. The 2019 Bowman Mega Boxes are out.
If you can beat other collectors or entrepreneurial flippers to the card section of the retail giant, you’ll find $19.99 boxes that include four packs of 2019 Bowman baseball and two packs of what everyone is really after—the Mega Box exclusives.
Those special packs have five cards including randomly inserted autographs and refractor parallels. They’re all about prospects and rookies including Vladimir Guerrero, Fernando Tatis Jr., Eloy Jimenez and other up and comers. The cards have a patterned look to them that’s quite different from the regular 2019 Bowman Chrome.
There should be a standard autograph card in every eight boxes and there are three serial-numbered parallel versions (Green # to 99); Orange (# to 25) and Black (1/1).
There is a 100-card base set that is skip-numbered. Look for ten image variations among those 150 base cards including Guerrero, Tatis, Wander Franco and Nick Senzel. One in every 140 packs has one of the image parallels with autographed versions found 1 in every 1,531 packs. There are also five different serial-numbered parallels for the base cards including 1/1 Black versions.
The 2019 Bowman Mega Boxes include a pair of insert sets: a 20-card Rookie of the Year Favorites set (one in every other pack) and another 20-card checklist called Ready for the Show (one in every four packs). Both will have serial numbered parallel versions, numbered from 250 to 1/1. Fifteen players on the ROY Favorites set have signed cards found one in every 207 packs with Orange and Black parallels.
2019 Bowman Mega Boxes are priced at $19.99 in the store but if they’re sold out, plenty of them—along with individual cards and lots—are already showing up on eBay.
