With a vibrant, colorful style, Panini America’s 2019-2020 Court Kings basketball will make its turn just in time for the NBA’s playoff push.
The product is scheduled to hit hobby stores and online outlets on June 5.
Collectors will find 10 cards in the one-pack hobby box, with two autograph and/or memorabilia cards. This is a tweak from last year’s set, which offered two autograph cards per hobby box.
But in addition to the big hits, a typical pack will include two insert cards, a parallel and a short-printed rookie card.
Base rookie cards will be broken down into four tiers with distinctive looks, with each higher-numbered subset rarer than the previous one.
Rookies I will be the subset with the most common first-year players. Rookies II and III will include short prints, while Rookies IV will be SSPs.
There will be a good selection of inserts to chase in Court Kings. Le Cinque Piu Belle — “The Five Most Beautiful” — has an ornate picture frame look that could look at home at the Louvre. This subset will feature 10 different players in cards with an artistic flourish.
The Aurora inserts sport a much bolder look, with aggressive colors and modernistic typography.
First Steps makes its debut in this year’s set. This insert features 10 different rookies and their rookie-year sneakers.
On-card autographs will be numbered to 149 or less. Fresh Paint and Heir Apparent play off the rookie theme. Each signature card will have parallels: Sapphire, numbered to 25 or less; and Masterpiece, which will be 1/1.
Meanwhile, the Legacies signature subset will concentrate on NBA legends. It also will have parallels in Sapphire (25 or less) and Masterpiece (1/1). The late Kobe Bryant was part of the sell sheet.
