The new year will start out with some flash for basketball card collectors. 2019-20 Panini Revolution basketball isn’t heavy on autographs but the product does provide some cards that are hard to miss. It should offer a lower cost option for those who are looking for lower cost cards of what looks to be a high-powered rookie class, led by Zion Williamson.
Due out January 3, Revolution hobby boxes will contain eight packs with five cards in each. There will be 16 boxes per case. Each box (around $125 on eBay) should have four rookie cards, eight parallels and four inserts along with 24 other cards.
Panini will produce Revolution on a holographic card stock. There will be parallel versions of every base and rookie card, including: Impact (#’d/149), Cosmic (#’d/100), Sunburst (#’d/75), Cubic (#’d/50), Lava ( #’d/10) and ever rarer Galactic versions.
Insert sets will be named Vortex, Rookie Revolution, Shock Wave, Supernova, and Liftoff. Each has the following variations: Fractal, Cubic (#’d/50) and Galactic.
Autographs will be on-card and fall at an average of six per case—a little less than one every other box. That’s not a big number, but it’s actually two more per case than the 2018-19 edition.
The autograph checklist will include rookies, veterans and some retired stars. Parallels include Infinite (# to 25) and 1/1 Kaleido.
