A product called Opulence is naturally going to be expensive. Certainly, Panini America’s 2019-2020 Opulence basketball, with a suggested $1,000 price tag per hobby box, fits that description. If the current trend continues, consider yourself lucky for snaring a box anywhere near that price.
2019-20 Opulence basketball is scheduled for release on September 18.
There will be one pack per box and seven cards per pack, which is one less card per box than the 2018-2019 product. However, each pack will contain one booklet, five autographs or relic cards and one base card. Each case will have two boxes.
One of the big possibilities for collectors is the Gold Medal Jersey Autographs set, which will contain game-worn memorabilia from games involving the USA Basketball team.
The booklets will be the big draw in Opulence and this year’s lineup has been “revamped,” according to Panini. This year’s much heralded draft class will be featured in the Rookie Patches Booklet and the Rookie Patches Autographs Booklet.
Some collectors will get lucky with the Rookie Octo Signature Booklets, which will feature eight autographs on each card.
Large memorabilia swatches will be part of the All-Star Game Booklet and NBA Finals Booklet cards. These cards will highlight the Toronto Raptors’ first NBA championship.
Even rarer versions will be the Tag and Logoman versions.
Game of Inches is a new wrinkle that gets its inspiration from Playbook Football. The larger cards will feature some of the NBA’s giants.
