The name is familiar but 2019-20 Panini Mosaic basketball is now a brand on its own with no ties to the company’s popular Prizm line as been the case the last couple of years when it was an online only product.
Some preliminary info is now available for this year’s edition and it includes a few different types of packaging across hobby and retail markets.
2019-20 Panini Mosaic Basketball General Info and Configuration(s)
2019-20 Mosaic basketball is scheduled to be released on April 22. Hobby boxes will have ten packs with 15 cards per pack and 12 boxes per case. Fast Break boxes will have 18 packs of eight cards and 20 boxes per case while Retail (Blaster) boxes will have eight packs of four cards.
In addition, there’s a multi-pack (cello) retail product that will include one Mosaic parallel, one insert and three Camo Pink parallels. There will also be Blue Flourescent rookie cards that are exclusive to the multi-packs.
Mosaic will be more about base cards, parallels and inserts than big time hits. Hobby boxes will have one autograph, five silver parallels, 15 additional parallels and 20 inserts. Fast Break boxes will have an autograph, three silver parallels, ten Fast Break parallels and five inserts. Blaster boxes will include four parallels and three inserts.
There will be some parallels that are exclusive to each type of box including White, Mosaic Gold, and Mosaic Black that are hobby exclusives. There will be Silver, Blue, Purple, Pink, Gold, and Black parallels that will be found only in Fast Break boxes.
Autographs and Inserts
Panini promises a “very strong checklist of rookies, current stars, and retired greats” in the Autographs Mosaic and Rookie Autographs Mosaic sets, which will have three different tiers. There will be Gold and Black parallels with some numbered as low as 1/1 inside hobby boxes. Autographs inside Fast Break boxes will feature the “Fast Break” branding on the front.
Hobby exclusive inserts include Center Stage, Swagger, Stained Glass, In It to Win It, and Overdrive.
Base Set
There’s a 300-card base set in the works including USA Basketball, Hall of Fame, and NBA Debut subsets.
Parallels set include non-numbered Base Silvers and Base Mosaics, as well as the Mosaic Red, Blue, Purple, White, Gold, and Black (serial numbers range from 99 to 1).
Pricing has been volatile with basketball products this season because of the interest in the rookie class but the SRP on hobby boxes of 2019-20 Panini Mosaic is $120. You can check current pricing from eBay seller here.
