Panini will once again put a shiny touch on its flagship basketball brand this season. They’ll roll out the 2019-20 edition of Donruss Optic basketball in mid-winter, highlighted by on-card rookie autographs.
2019-20 Donruss Optic Configuration and Base Set Info
If you’re not aware, Donruss Optic is the higher-end version of Donruss with a chromium-style card stock. Each hobby box of this season’s product will carry 20 packs with four cards per pack. Cases will have 12 boxes. Each box should have one autograph and 20 parallels in addition to the base card content. Blaster boxes will have seven packs with four cards per pack.
Optic delivers a 200-card base set, consisting of 150 base cards and 50 Rated Rookies.
There will be a variety of serial numbered base set parallels including: Holo, Orange (#’d/199), Lime Green (#’d/149), Red (#’d/99), Pink Velocity (#’d/79), Blue (#’d/59), Black Velocity (#’d/39), Gold (#’d/10), Green (#’d/5), and Gold Vinyl (#’d/1).
Checkerboard parallels will be exclusive to retail packs.
Inserts and Autographs
Among the insert sets: All-Stars, All Clear For Takeoff, Star Gazing, Rainmakers and The Rookies. Parallels will include Holo, Red (#’d/99), Blue (#’d /49), Gold (#’d/10), Green (#’d/5), and Gold Vinyl (#’d/1).
Retail-only inserts include Express Lane, Splash!, Fantasy Stars, My House, T-Minus 3, 2, 1, and Winner Stays. All will have various parallels.
Rated Rookies Signatures will features Zion Williamson, Ja Morant, R.J. Barrett and the rest of this year’s highly touted draft picks. Hobby-exclusive Prizm Parallels will include Holo, Blue (#’d/49), Gold (#’d/10), Green (#’d/5), Gold Vinyl (#’d/1). Again, Checkerboard parallels will be retail-exclusive and also 1/1.
Optic’s autograph content will feature former greats and current veterans as well. Among the other autograph subsets are Retro Series Signatures, Dominators Signatures, and Rookie Dominators Signatures.
The release date for 2019-20 Donruss Optic basketball is February 5. The “Fast Break” version, with 18 packs of five cards and some exclusive insert content will release on February 7. A full checklist for the product is below.
