2018 Topps Gypsy Queen will mark the brand’s eighth year, as it continues to outlast many of the vintage set inspired brands that flooded the market some years ago. Set for release Wednesday, March 21, the new edition is configured in a 24-pack box with each pack containing eight cards. Each box will contain two autograph cards and Topps has moved to emphasize on-card signatures, including last year’s popular Fortune Teller set.
New Additions
Look for a few new features this year. The first is Jackie Robinson Day image variations, which will feature players wearing the number 42 in tribute to the legendary Dodgers second baseman. The image variations will also have an on-card autograph variation and a Black (1/1) parallel.
The second change is the switch to on-card autographs for the Fortune Tellers mini autograph cards. Next, Pull-Up Socks auto relics will feature a colorful swatch from socks worn by players during the 2017 Home Run Derby.
Finally, Tarot of the Diamond is inspired by antique tarot card decks. Fortune Teller minis and Tarot of the Diamond will also have sequentially numbered Indigo parallels and Black (1/1) parallels.

Base Set, Variations and Parallels
Next year’s Gypsy Queen will have a 300-card base set, including 2018 rookies, current stars, and short printed retired players and legends. One interesting parallel will be missing the team name and produced in limited numbers. Capless Image variations will picture a player without their cap. Parallels will include Indigo, Black & White (#’d to 50) hobby exclusives, Red (#’d to
10), and Black (1/1). Each hobby box will include an GQ Glassworks oversized chrome box topper. The box topper will have Indigo, Red (#’d to 25), Black (1/1) parallels and an on-card autograph variation.
Logo swap variations turn Kris Bryant of the Cubs into a Cardinal and Aaron Judge of the Yankees into a member of the Red Sox.
If you’re really into variations, Beckett has a breakdown.
Autographs
Gypsy Queen has always been popular with autograph collectors and the 2018 product will contain two signed cards per box with Topps promising more on-card autographs than in previous years. Gypsy Queen autographs will draw from a checklist that will include rookies, current stars, and legends.
Look for parallels, hobby exclusive Black & White parallels, and Black (1/1) parallels. Mini Rookie autographs will be sequentially numbered with on-card autographs and a Black (1/1) parallel. In addition to these autograph inserts, the set will also include unannounced autograph variations to keep collectors tearing open packs to find the mystery.

Auto Relics
Autograph Garments leads the way among the memorabilia cards found within 2018 Topps Gypsy Queen baseball. Each card will again feature an on-card autograph with either a jersey swatch or bat relic and will be sequentially numbered. Auto patch book cards will feature a three-panel design with two player images an oversized piece of memorabilia and will also be sequentially numbered. Bases Around the League auto relics will include a piece of a game used base from 2017 Opening Day and an on-card signature.
