After making its debut last year, 2018 Topps Clearly Authentic baseball will mark the brand’s return this summer, once again as a one autographed card per box product featuring both current players and former stars. A checklist is below.
2018 Topps Clearly Authentic Overview
This year’s release will combine acetate card technology with on-card signatures. Cases will hold 20 boxes.
Clearly Authentic will incorporate the base card design from 2018 Topps Baseball, as well as some memorable designs and individual cards from the past. No need to worry if you’ll smudge an autograph or nick a corner when you open the pack. All cards will be encased.
Current Designs…and Blasts from the Past
Standard autos from Clearly Authentic will use the base design from 2018 Topps Series 1 and 2 but with different photos of the players. Seven different parallel levels are planned, with serial numbers on those ranging from Green (# to 99) to Gold (1/1). The 2018 Topps Salute and MLB Awards subsets will get the same treatment in Clearly Authentic.
Two new twists have been added this year: Clearly Legendary Autographs which will feature an all-new design with a checklist of all-time greats and Clearly Authentic 1993 Finest Stars Autographs which will give an acetate touch to the classic 1993 Topps Finest All Star design. The 1/1 Gold parallels for both will likely be some of the product’s biggest pulls.
Clearly Authentic Reprint Autographs will highlight Topps Baseball cards from the past on clear acetate technology. Look for 1/1 Sepia Parallels to also be among the bigger hits.
On average, every case guarantees two of the following: Clearly Authentic Reprint Autograph, Clearly Authentic 1993 Finest Stars Autograph, and/or a Clearly Legendary Autograph.
Release date for 2018 Topps Clearly Authentic has been set for August 8. Boxes are currently available online for $60-65.
