It’s become one of Panini’s most recognizable brands and 2018 Prizm football is set to arrive in the fall with many of the themes collectors know well. There has not been much straying from the basic formula Prizm has used since it hit the market in 2012.
There is that Optichrome technology that gives the cards their distinctive shine, while colorful parallels are coupled with three autograph cards per hobby box to give collectors some solid pull possibilities.
Those elements will be in place when the 2018 Prizm Football set debuts the week of Oct. 24.
2018 Panini Prizm Football Basics
A hobby box will contain three autograph cards, nine numbered Prizm cards, four insert cards, and either a Prizm base or rookie card. There will be a 300-card base set, showcased in silver, with 200 veterans and 100 rookies. Rookies will average two in a hobby pack.
There will be 12 packs per hobby box, with 12 cards per pack.
Base Set
Prizm’s base set consists of 300 cards. As usual, Panini is offering several parallels, including Prizm, Hyper (numbered to 275), Orange (249), Light Blue Die-Cut (199), Red Wave (149) Blue Scope (99), Green Crystals (75), Purple Power (49), Camo (25), Gold (10), Gold Vinyl (5) and Black Finite (1/1). There also will be hobby exclusive Orange 
Die-Cuts and Light Blue Die-Cuts.
Inserts
The inserts for this year’s set will retain its vivid color, falling once every three packs on average. Stained Glass remains wildly colorful and caters to those collectors who view pro football as an almost religious-like experience. The Hype insert set sports a bold and aggressive look, with large block letters stretching across the card front.
The Stained Glass and Hype inserts also have parallels in Gold Mojo, numbered to 10; and 1/1 Black Finite.
Returning inserts include Illumination, Instant Impact and Rookie Introductions. Making their insert debut this are the out-of-this world design of Apex, Grit, Trifecta and 2018 HOF Tribute.
Autographs
Signed cards in the 2018 Prizm set will focus on first-year players, and the Rookies Autographs inserts includes several different parallels, including Red Wave (numbered to 199), Blue Scope (99), Green Crystals (75), Purple Power (49), Camo (25), Gold (10), Gold Vinyl (5) or Black Finite (1/1).
Rookie Patch Autographs will be a case hit, with parallels in Purple Power (numbered to 50), Gold (10) and Black Finite (1/1).
