Just before training camps open, collectors will see a fresh NFL trading card hit the market when 2018 Panini Gold Standard football arrives. Having debuted back in 2011, Gold Standard has become a staple in the company’s football lineup, packed in a box designed to look like a gold bar.
It’s a hit based product with five of the seven cards featuring an autograph or memorabilia piece. Each box should have a Rookie Jersey autographed card numbered to 99 or less. There are also double and triple relic versions.
There are base rookie cards numbered to 99 with Platinum (# to 49), Rose Gold (# to 25) and 1/1 Black versions.
New this year are Gold Scripts autographs numbered to 24 or less and signed with gold ink. There are Platinum versions numbered to 14 and 1/1 versions signed against a black background.
Among the big autograph hits will be Super Bowl Diamond Signatures, featuring players who starred in the big game accompanied by an authentic diamond. All are numbered to 5 with 1/1 dual autograph versions.
The Gold Strike autograph insert is numbered to 99 or less and includes Platinum (numbered to 49 or less) and Black 1/1 chases.
Golden Shield Signatures will feature the NFL shield on gold along with a player autograph.
Relic card offerings include Mother Lode, which feature five pieces of memorabilia per card. Gold Gear Prime features a single, large swatch. Cards in both Mother Lode and Gold Gear are numbered to 125 with Prime versions numbered to 49 and Premium 1 of 1s also along for the ride.
2018 Panini Gold Standard Football is set for a July 11 release date.
Boxes are being offered online for around $160.
