Panini’s Father’s Day promotion will return to participating hobby shops in 2018, with hobby shops offering free packs in return for purchasing certain sports card boxes beginning in stores during the weekend of June 15-17.
The annual event offers retailers the opportunity to hand out incentives to customers in the form of a two-card pack of Father’s Day-branded cards. Randomly inserted autograph and relic cards are the big draw and Sports Collectors Daily has learned that Shohei Ohtani autographs and relics will be available in those packs. In addition to his deal with MLB licensee Topps, the two-way sensation from Japan also signed an autograph and memorabilia deal with Panini after joining the Angels. No preview images of the signed Ohtani cards have been released as of yet.
The 2018 Father’s Day promotion will be slightly different this year in that it won’t be separated by sport. Panini will include cards from all of its licenses including football, basketball, baseball, soccer and NASCAR in packs. Rookie cards from each will be part of the checklist. You can see a sample gallery of images below.
The 75-card base set includes 25 rookies, serial numbered to 399.
During the promotion, collectors will be awarded packs based on their purchases from these products:

- Prestige Basketball: 3 packs
- Vertex Football: 4 packs
- Classics Football: 2 packs
- Elite Draft Picks Football: 3 packs
