The 2018 Bowman Chrome Luis Robert Superfractor will hit the auction block beginning next Sunday.
As we reported last month, Lelands will offer the one-of-a-kind card in its Fall Classic Auction, scheduled to run through December 11.
Graded Gem Mint 10 by PSA, it’s expected to sell for a five-figure price.
According to Lelands, the card has been in possession of the consigner since it was pulled from a pack of 2018 Bowman Chrome during the year of issue but wasn’t graded until a few months ago.
At the time the card was issued, Robert was considered one of the premier prospects in baseball. This year, he proved the prognosticators right by becoming one of four finalists for American League Rookie of the Year, leading all rookies in RBIs and tied for first in home runs. He finished second among MLB rookies in runs, extra-base hits, and total bases. His slugging percentage was third among rookies.
“Luis Robert could go on to have a Hall of Fame career, and this 1 of 1 specimen will skyrocket in value as his career progresses,” predicted Lelands Acquisition Director Jordan Gilroy. “I would not be surprised if the winning bidder puts this card away until Robert’s career is over.”
The Lelands 2020 Fall Classic Auction opens for bidding Sunday at 7 PM EST and continues for four weeks with hundreds of lots in the catalog.
