One of the hobby’s longest running hockey card brands will make its return during the NHL playoffs. 2018-19 Upper Deck SP Authentic will return June 5 with 18 packs per box and five cards per pack.
Each box promises two autographs including one Future Watch rookie card (# to 999) and one additional autograph from inserts including Sign of the Times, Marks of Distinction (# to 25), Immortal Ink (# to 10) and others.
There’s a 100-card base set with each card having a Red parallel. Three parallel cards will be in each box.
Upper Deck is highlighting is highlighting a change to its long-running Sign of the Times autograph cards. It’s being branded Decades and will offer hard signed autographs of retired greats from the 1960s to 1990s each with a “unique design themed around the decade they dominated the NHL,” according to Upper Deck. Players from the 60s will be the toughest to locate, with the rest in ascending order.
Young Guns Updates will be found in 2018-19 SP Authentic, in addition to Exclusives parallels (#’d to 100) and High Gloss parallels (#’d to 10).
They won’t be easy to find, but Future Watch auto patch cards numbered to 100 will be in the mix as well.
SP Authentic will be the home of Update cards with standard cards in every seven packs, Young Guns Updates in every 19 packs and All-Star Highlights in every 45 packs. There’s an Update Exclusives parallel for each, numbered to 100 and a High Gloss pa
rallel numbered to 10.
A bounty program associated with the Spectrum FX inserts will be be part of 2018-19 SP Authentic. There will be one or two Spectrum FX cards in every box. The first 50 collectors to find all 99 cards (some will be tougher than others) and redeem the set at UpperDeckBounty.com will receive Spectrum FX card #100 plus a complete 100- card Gold Spectrum FX parallel set (#’d to 50) All remaining collectors to redeem the complete set will receive Spectrum FX card #100.
