They teased it at their annual dealer conference last week. Now, more details have been released on 2018-19 Upper Deck Engrained hockey, a new product set to release during playoff time.
Engrained offers six cards per one pack box. Each pack should contain three autograph or memorabilia card including one Signature Shots auto, one insert and two base cards.
Base Set and Inserts
Engrained gets its name from the base set, which uses a faux wood design. Each is numbered to 299. There’s a Black parallel set with each card numbered to 49.
Upper Deck says the base set with also include autograph and memorabilia parallels, although no details were released.
Insert cards include Base Set Black Parallels #’d to 49 as well as Synthesis with Grip Synthesis parallels numbered to 50.
Autograph and Relic Cards
Engrained’s autograph content is built around Signature Shots. Each card features either a trapped piece of carbon fiber or actual varnished wood as a signing area.
There will be up to 50 rookies, all numbered to 249 or less; up to 20 active stars and legends, all numbered to 100 or less in a checklist that will include Wayne Gretzky, Bobby Orr, Patrick Roy, Connor McDavid, Sidney Crosby and John Tavares. Also in the mix are Blue Ink rookie parallels numbered to 49 or less and Red Ink parallels numbered to 25 or less for non-rookie content.
Upper Deck is touting its Dual Stick Nameplates as “perhaps the finest NHL licensed memorabilia cards ever made.” The checklist will include stick plates from:

Remnants and Signature Remnants will feature a checklist of up to 100 cards with 25 different scheduled to be autographed. All will be numbered to 100 or less. The cards will feature game-used sticks from over 50 Hall of Famers including Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Patrick Roy, Jean Beliveau, Terry Sawchuk, Jacques Plante and other past greats along with current stars like Crosby, McDavid, Carey Price and David Pastrnak.
Complete Sticks, including auto versions, will include three unique stick pieces. All will be serial numbered.
Other Highlights
Honorary Engravings will feature replica nameplates from some of the game’s most memorable trophies.
Carved in Time cards will be made of solid wood.
Flexures will be another insert that also includes autographed versions.
Distinguishing Marks will be 1/1 case hits.
2018-19 Upper Deck Engrained is due out April 24. There was no immediate word on pricing.
