It’s been ten years since Panini snapped up the exclusive license to produce NBA trading cards and that anniversary is among the elements in 2018-19 Noir basketball, set for release on May 29. Among the higher end products Panini releases prior to the end of the league’s regular season, Noir contains all on-card autographs.
2018-19 Panini Noir Basics
Noir is a one pack per box product that carries ten cards, seven of which are typically autograph and/or memorabilia cards. Look for early pricing at around $500 per box. Cases will include four boxes.
Rookie Patch Autographs
It’s been a solid year for rookies and they’ll be among the focal points of Noir. Look for both Black and White and Color versions of the Rookie Patch Autographs. Each features either a prime swatch of jersey or a jersey tag. Each card will be numbered to 99 or less.
One of the most popular subsets in Noir, these carry autographs on a black background with a checklist that includes veterans, legends, and the 2018-19 NBA Rookie Class, including Luka Dončić, Trae Young, Deandre Ayton and other notable players. Some are done in a horizontal style.
Inserts and Base Cards
Panini’s decade-long run as an NBA licensee is celebrated in 10th Anniversary Signatures. Other possibilities include Vintage Art, featuring top players with a unique design twist, and Newsreel Jerseys, which will chronicle various player accomplishments. New this year is Sneaker Spotlight, a set that, according to Panini, “showcases the best and brightest footwear of the NBA’s elite.”
Feature Length, Split Screen, and Vintage Art are all numbered to 25 or less.
While there is no indication on the size of the base set as of yet, there will be super-short printed versions including Metal Frame Alternate variations of veterans, legends, and rookies.
