The season is over but the hoops keep coming later this week with the arrival of 2018-19 Panini Opulence basketball. The high-end product is nearly all low-numbered hits with all autographs signed on card.
Each one pack box contains eight cards (there were ten last year), with three boxes per case. Seven of the eight cards are hits with all cards in the product serial numbered no higher than 99. All autographs are on card (no stickers). It’s what you’d expect from a product that runs about $1,000 online right now.
There’s a base set of 150 cards which includes 100 veterans with parallels numbered to 10, 5, 3 and 1. Rookie Autographs and Rookie Patch Autographs are considered part of the base set. The Rookie Patch Autographs are numbered to 79 or less making them the most elusive RPAs of the year. Both will have three different lower numbered parallels including 1/1 Platinum versions.
Panini is touting Opulence as the only basketball release of the year to contain Premium Memorabilia Booklets. Look for Rookie Patch Autograph Booklets, including Nameplates, Brand Logo and Sponsor Logos, and NBA Finals Booklets (from the 2017-18 season), including Brand Logos, Sponsor Logos, and the NBA Finals Logoman patches.
Super rare will be the Rookie Octo Signature Booklets, with eight autos from the top members of last season’s draft class.
Gold Medal Jersey Autographs will feature players who have suited up for Team USA in international competition during past years.
Standard autograph subsets will include Opulent Scripts, City of Gold Signatures and Luxurious Autographs.
2018-19 Panini Opulence basketball is set for a July 17 release.
