The first NFL trading card product of the new calendar year will arrive January 26 with the release of 2017 Panini Limited football.
Limited makes its return with two autographs and one memorabilia card per box including one on-card Rookie Patch autograph. Each pack will have five cards with three packs in each box.
Among the new autograph sets is one that should appeal to both team collectors and fans of football history. Ring of Honor Autographs will highlight some of the players who are members of their team’s Hall of Fame (look for Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Roger Craig and Steve Young together on one card, for example). Panini says those cards will carry on-card autographs.
Other major attractions will include dual and triple player autographs on Limited Combos and Limited Trios Autograph cards, all numbered to 49 or less and Limited Quad Autograph Booklets, which include combinations of players both past and present and feature four signatures.
If you saw any of last spring’s NFL Draft, you’ll remember players posing with their team’s jersey. Those have apparently been sliced up for use in Limited Draft Day Signature Booklets.
In addition to the Rookie Patch Autograph cards that will be one per box, there will be variations with oversized patches that will be numbered to 25.
Other highlights include: Limited Partnership Trios autographs which will put three players who carry an association with each other, such as the Watt brothers. The signed cards will be “limited” indeed with no more than ten produced for the product. Limited Combos Autograph Jersey cards will pair a rookie with an established veteran with signatures and memorabilia pieces for each.
While the checklist hadn’t been released as of this writing, the configuration of the box would indicate a base set will be part of it.
