After launching as a football product last season, 2017-18 Panini Encased basketball will make its NBA debut during the upcoming playoffs.
A mid-to-higher end product, Encased is focused on autographs and memorabilia cards and takes its name from the fact that one of the two autographed cards in every five-pack box will already be graded.
Encased will come in a five-card box/pack with the two autos (both numbered to 99 or less) joined by a pair of memorabilia cards and one additional card. Box prices can be expected to land at about $200 when Encased hits the market on June 27. Cases will carry eight boxes.
Among the graded autographs in 2017-18 Panini Encased basketball will be “Perfect 10” which will include rookies as well as stars from the past and present that have been graded 10.
Also among the autograph subsets are Rookie Endorsements, Rookie Notables and Scripted Signatures, all with a design that mixes black and white backgrounds with color images.
Legendary Swatch Signatures will feature past greats such as Larry Bird and carry a memorabilia piece and an autograph. Vaulted Veterans Materials Signatures is focused on current players while Endorsements pays homage to some past greats including Reggie Miller.
Triple Jerseys Prime will be a relic subset featuring three memorabilia pieces. Substantial Swatches Prime will have single, large swatches from both veterans and rookies.
