Collectors looking for something exclusive this holiday season will have to travel the retail route to find Chrome versions of the 2016 Topps Baseball Update series.
As November begins, the Holiday Mega box will be available only at Target.
The box will contain seven packs — five packs of Topps Update series and two packs of Update Series chrome.
The Chrome checklist (see below) will be small, with just 50 base cards. It will include rookie cards of Kyle Schwarber, Blake Snell, Julio Urias, Michael Fulmer, Trevor Story, Kenta Maeda, Nomar Mazara, Jameson Taillon and Aledmys Diaz.
There also will be parallels to the base set, with refractors (numbered to 250), X-Fractors (99), gold (50) and 1/1 SuperFractors.
A chrome version of the 3,000 Hit Club insert will be found inserted into the Holiday Mega Boxes. This is a subset that includes 20 of the 30 men who have collected 3,000 hits in their career, including its newest member, Ichiro.
Also inserted randomly will be All-Star Stitches Chrome Relics and All-Star Stiches Chrome Autograph Relics. The former is a 24-card set that includes stars like Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant, Addison Russell and Jake Arrieta of the World Series champion Chicago Cubs; Francisco Lindor of the Series runner-up Cleveland Indians; and other stars like Bryce Harper, David Ortiz, Mike Trout, Madison Bumgarner, Miguel Cabrera and Max Scherzer. The latter is a 10-card set that includes Rizzo, Bryant, Lindor, Cabrera, Trout, Harper and Clayton Kershaw.
WalMart will get into the holiday act on Nov. 15 when it releases its exclusive Mega Holiday box product.
