Those who lament the loss of Topps Chrome from the football card landscape will get an answer from Panini in the form of 2016 Donruss Optic Football. Due out December 30, it’s a chrome version of the company’s football flagship Donruss set, which was released a few weeks ago.
It’s the same Optichrome technology Panini uses on its Prizm products and in its Optic baseball issue.
Similar to Topps Chrome, 2016 Optic Football will include four cards per pack with 20 packs per box and 12 boxes per case. Each box will have one autograph, ten Rated Rookies, ten other rookie cards, four base Holo cards, two Rookie Holos, two Rated Rookie Holo, one Gridiron Kings insert, one Legends of the Fall, one The Rookies and one Prototype.
Rookie Patch Autographs, Rookie Dual autographs and Rookie Triple Autographs are among the bigger hits. While Rated Rookie Autographs will be on card, promotional material issued by the company would indicate most of the signatures included with the product will be on stickers.
Donruss Optic Legends Series feat ures autographs of past greats while Fans of the Game Autographs will highlight famous faces who follow the NFL. Daisy Ridley, Al Pacino and Megan Fox are among those who have signed for the product.
One of the insert sets will be X-Factors, which will include 20
superstars on a die-cut design.
X-Factors inserts feature 20 of the NFL’s brightest
stars on a die-cut design.
Panini hasn’t released any info on the base set but they did indicate parallels will be plentiful including: Base Holo, Aqua (numbered to 299), Orange (# to 199), Blue (# to 149), Red (# to 99), Carolina Blue (# to 50), Black (# to 25), Gold (# to 10), Green (# to five) and Gold Vinyl (1/1).
