Bowman Inception baseball is about premium autographs and relics. It’s a formula that Topps has stuck with and with hits that go 5-for-5 in each pack for this year’s product, the focus hasn’t changed.
A box of 2016 Bowman Inception Baseball contains one pack with five cards. Expect prices to fluctuate between $75 and $85, depending on the retailer when the product gets close to its July 6 release date. All five cards will contain autographs — four on-card, and one an autograph relic card. As in the past, up-and-coming prospects will be the focus — but there also will be some low-numbered, on-card signatures by veterans. A full checklist is at the bottom of this story.
Autographed Cards
Prospect Autographs and Rookie Autographs also will feature hard-signed cards, with parallels in blue, green, gold (numbered to 25), orange (5
) and 1/1 red. There are two new types of insert autograph cards for 2016 — New Dawn Autographs and Inceptionalized Bowman Veteran Autographs.
New Dawn will feature on-card prospect signatures on a continuity design exclusive to each year’s Bowman Inception product. There also will be 1/1 red parallels.
Inceptionalized will recreate each veteran’s first Bowman card on thick paper featuring the “Inception technology.” This insert will also have orange parallels numbered to 5 and red 1/1s.
Similarly, Inceptionalized Bowman Prospect Autographs will fall one to a case. These on-card autograph cards will have parallels in gold (numbered t0 25), orange (5) and red (1/1). Origins Autographs will feature prospects, rookies and veterans, with parallels in orange (numbered to 5) and red (1/1).
Relic Autographs
The relic cards will have sticker autographs. The Autograph Relics will come in base, with parallels in blue, green, gold (numbered to 25), orange (5) and red (1/1). Autographed Jumbo Patches will debut gold parallels numbered to 25, while returning parallels in orange (5) and red (1/1).
A scarcer pull will be the Autograph Logo Patch cards, which will be 1/1s and include an MLB Silhouetted Batter logo patch from a game-used jersey.
Future Stars Relic Autographs will be 1/1s cards with pieces taken from the jerseys at the 2015 All-Star Futures game. A laundry tag parallel also will be a 1/1 card. Veteran Autograph Relics make their debut and will have additional parallels in orange (5) and red (1/1).
Autograph Letter Books is an offering that contains a block letter from a player’s jersey and an autograph to boot.
While Bowman Inception may be offering a small number of packs per box (one), the all-autograph format will be appealing to many.
