Those looking for an NBA fix in the middle of summer will get one when 2016-17 Panini Preferred Basketball hits the market.
Preferred boxes carry a pretty simple configuration. Each will have two packs of two cards each. Each card will be either an autograph, auto relic or a memorabilia book card.
There’s no immediate word on pricing.
Panini is touting the presence of on-card autographs in the product which should be welcome news for collectors. The company finally corralled Hall of Famer Reggie Miller, who is signing cards for the first time this decade. Other autographs will come from rookies, current veterans and other NBA greats from the past.
They’ll use a bunch of different designs for Preferred including die-cut Crown Royale autographs and triangle-shaped signed cards for Panini’s Choice.
Jumbo prime memorabilia cards will be featured on Silhouettes and Rookie Silhouettes with low serial-numbered Prime versions of each in the plans.
Among the more unique hits will be NBA Finals 2016 Booklets featuring jersey pieces worn during Game 2 of the 2016 NBA Finals. There will be three versions, Base, Prime, and Super Prime.
Other book cards will include VS 1 on 1, which fold out to reveal a wide shot of in-game action featuring well-known NBA stars, Rookie Playbooks which feature last season’s top first year players alongside memorabilia relics, plus Crazy Eights, Stat Line and Trending Upward.
2016-17 Panini Preferred basketball is due out on August 23.
