Earlier we wrote briefly about the strange way Topps went about their 2014 Spring Fever campaign. With the exception of how the cards were confusingly made available at the first, it was a fairly straightforward proposition. During the Opening Week of the baseball season collectors could go into designated hobby shops and obtain a five-card pack of the special cards for every eighteen packs of Topps Baseball Series 1 they bought. So, theoretically, if a person bought five Series One hobby boxes they could obtain a complete set of the Spring Fever cards (provided every pack was unique, of course).
The set had a checklist of 50 different players (not including the random autographed cards which were numbered separately), and the players depicted were all active players with the exception of the 2013 retiree Mariano Rivera. Bright, bold and simulating refractor cards, the Spring Fever cards are definitely a set unto themselves and unlike any other Topps cards seen so far this year. The card backs contain a brief paragraph about the player and his career without any statistics in line form.
Below we provide you with both a checklist for all 50 cards and a gallery showing the fronts of all the cards in the set. You can see both autographed and non-autographed cards on eBay here.
