2014 SP Authentic Football Preview and Checklist

One product has remained constant for Upper Deck football throughout their years of both NFL and NCAA licenses and that is SP Authentic.  It returns for its 2014 run Friday, December 17.  2014 Upper Deck SP Authentic is built on of a 235-card base set, made up of 100 regular cards, 30 short print rookies, 20 legend short prints and 50 authentic moments, which highlight 50 of the best moments in college football history.  A full checklist for the product is linked below.

Each box contains 20 packs per box, 5 cards per pack with 3 autographs, 4 Canvas Collection inserts and 3 SPA Future Watch inserts guaranteed per box.  Online pricing is currently at around $130 per box.

1 of the 3 autographs in every box of 2014 SP Authentic Football will be a Rookie Autograph Patch numbered to 550 or less.  They are broken down into tiers.  Tier 3 is the most common, numbered to 550; Tier 2 is numbered to 350 and Tier 3 to 150.  This year Upper Deck has included inscription RPA parallels that are numbered to 10 or less regardless of which tier.

Some insert autograph sets have been a staple of the product and they are included this year as well with Future Watch which is a 2000 retro design and Sign of the Times is back with dual autograph variations.

SP Authentic has been known for its checklists featuring all time greats alongside the rookies and this year is no different with the checklist featuring Johnny Manziel, Sammy Watkins, Peyton Manning, John Elway, Jerry Rice, Dan Marino and many others.

Inserts are prominent throughout SP Authentic with a certain numbered guaranteed in every box.  The Canvas Collection cards are printed on a canvas material and have autograph variations, but are not numbered.  The SPA Future Watch cards are however, as they are numbered to 999 with red parallels to 99 and autograph versions numbered to 25 or less.

Upper Deck has been known to throw in a “bonus” pack every now and then and this year they did not disappoint.  In a 12 case you can find, on average, 3 Super FX Bonus packs, which include one Super FX Autograph as well as two Super FX rookies or legends.
