2014-15 Upper Deck Hockey Series 1 arrives November 5 and the company has released the final checklist for the annual flagship product, annually highlighted by the popular Young Guns insert set.
There will be 24 packs of eight cards in each hobby box and 12 boxes per case. Boxes are being pre-sold at $75-80.
Last year’s issue featured a double rookie class because of the lengthy 2012-13 work stoppage but it’s back to normal for UD this season–now without competition in the hockey card market– and it’s this product that drops the puck on the collecting season for a lot of folks in Canada and the U.S.
Upper Deck Hockey has been a set builder’s brand since it’s arrival in the early 1990s and this year will once again include 200 base cards. There will be Exclusive and High Gloss parallels to each base card with the former serial numbered to 100 and the latter numbered to just 10.
Upper Deck has inserted stamped and serial numbered buybacks of that original 1990-91 set of 400 cards that arrived after the young company was awarded its first NHL license.
Back are the A Piece of History 500 Goal Club inserts with newcomers A Piece of History 1,000 Point Club cards along with autographed parallels randomly inserted.
Clear Cut acetate insert cards will feature all-new Clear Cut Captains, numbered to 100 alongside Stoppers (also numbered to 100), Foundations (# to 25) and rare League Leaders, numbered to just 10. Expect one per case.
The Upper Deck Canvas set is a set-within-a set and features some unique photographs. Thirty rookies are on the checklist.
There’s a 60-card Shining Stars insert set once again, split among the hobby and retail packaging which will make it a challenge to complete.
The Upper Deck Game Jersey cards will have SPs and Patch parallels numbered to 15.
