2013 Topps Supreme football is the latest in a recent surge of one pack per box products that seeks to address the diminished emphasis collectors place on base cards. When it arrives just after the season, each pack will contain only four cards including one base card, two base card parallels, and either an autograph, relic, or autographed card.
New for 2013 will be the inclusion of two color parallels that have become a staple across all Topps brands. Familiar Blue, Violet (#’d to 125), Sepia (#’d to 99), Green (#’d to 50), and Red (1/1) parallels will populate packs of Topps Supreme. In addition, each of the 1o0 card checklist featuring current stars, top rookies, and retired legends will have printing plates (1/1).
35 top rookies will be featured in the Supreme Rookie Die-cut Relic cards with two patch parallels: Violet (#’d to 25) and Red (1/1). Three unique 1/1 relic insert sets will be produced for Topps Supreme as well including 35 Jumbo Supreme Patch cards, 100 Primary Pieces Relic cards, and 100 Letter Patch cards. 40 rookies and 25 veterans will have quad relic cards containing 3 jersey swatches and 1 jersey patch, but while the rookies will have Blue (#’d to 15), Violet patch (#’d to 5), and Red Patch (1/1) parallels, the veterans will only have a Red patch (1/1) parallel. Finally, the rookies will have a quad combo relic combo card featuring up to 20 combinations with Blue (#’d to 15), Violet patch (#’d to 5), and Red patch (1/1) parallels.
Rookie autographs are often the most sought after hit in any issue. In addition to the base autographs, 2013 Topps Supreme football will offer Blue (#’d to 40), Violet (#’d to 25), Green (#’d to 10), Red (1/1) parallels along with printing plates (1/1). The rookies will be featured prominently in two box loader inserts: QB Playbook cards (#’d to 5) will have a quarterback’s autograph and hand drawn favorite play and Nickname Book cards will include a nickname in addition to the autograph.
Both current stars and retired legends will be featured on a 35 player autograph checklist that once again draws from the colors used throughout the set for parallels: Blue (#’d to 20), Violet (#’d to 5), Red (1/1) and printing plates (1/1). Combo autographs will find their way into packs of Topps Supreme also, including 50 Dual (#’d to 25), 10 Quad (#’d to 5), 3 Six Double-sided (#’d to 5), and 3 Eight Double-sided (#’d to 5).
40 rookies, veterans, and legends will be included in the autographed relic sets. In addition to the base there will be three patch parallels: Blue (#’d to 25), Violet (#’d to 10), and Red (1/1) parallels. An autographed version of the quad relic cards will also be included with Blue (#’d to 10), Violet (#’d to 5), and Red (1/1) parallels. Autographed Jumbo Patch relic cards will have Violet (#’d to 5) and Red (1/1) parallels, while the Autographed Team Logo book cards will each be a unique 1/1. Dual Autograph Patch Book cards (#’d to 15) with Red (1/1) parallels are new for 2013 and will feature a checklist of 20 rookie, veteran, and current players. Lastly, Supreme Rookie Dual Autograph Die-cut Book cards (#’d to 5) will feature 20 top rookies with both an autograph and what Topps is describing as a ‘Supreme-sized’ relic included.
2013 Topps Supreme football is expected on hobby shelves on February 26, 2014 – just over 3 weeks after Super Bowl XLVIII on Groundhog Day.
