Now in its third edition, 2012 Topps Prime Football is primed (no pun intended) for release in early October. A little more expensive than your typical product, the set will once again consist of 150-cards (50 of which will be rookies) and printed on a thick, high-gloss card stock reminiscent of the Fleer Flair sets of the mid 1990s.
Each six-card pack will contain one of the 50 rookies and a Copper parallel from amongst the 100 veterans. Serial-numbered parallels will also be available for the 50 rookies, ranging from Copper (serial-numbered to 350 copies) to the one-of-one Gold Rainbows. (Curiously none of the 100 veterans will have numbered parallels). Each 10-pack Hobby box will contain eight inserts: two from a 100-card “Primetimers” set and 50 “Primed Rookies” and four “hits.”
The four promised hits will include two “Relics,” an autographed (sticker) rookie card, and a “Prime” autographed “Relic” card. Non-autographed Relics will come with either one, two, three, or four swatches of game and/or non-game used photo shot jerseys, with Copper (serial-numbered to 25 copies), Silver Rainbow (numbered to ten) and Gold Rainbow (one-of-one) parallels for all – the Gold Rainbow’s exclusive to Hobby packs.
All 50 Rookies will have a one-per-box serial-numbered autographed parallel, with five levels of parallels:
- Copper (Seq #’d to 99)
- Gold (Seq #’d to 75)
- Silver Rainbow (Seq #’d to 50)
- Copper Rainbow (Seq #’d to 25)
- Gold Rainbow (one-of-one)
Finally, 2012 Topps Prime Football wraps up with the one-per-box “Prime Autographed Relics,” a multi-tiered, multi-paralleled series featuring a minimum of four “Relics” and a sticker autograph. “Prime V” will be the most common and feature both rookies and veterans; however the multitude of parallels will only be made for the rookies, and only seeded in Hobby packs:
- Copper (Seq #’d to 50)
- Gold (Seq #’d to 25)
- Silver Rainbow (Seq #’d to 15)
- Copper Rainbow (Seq #’d to 10)
- Gold Rainbow (one-of-one)
The other Prime Autographed Relics will only be made for the rookies:
- Prime IV (patch swatch, serial-numbered to 15.)
- Prime III (Football/Glove/Patch, serial-numbered to 5)
- Prime II (Glove/Wristband/Football/Home Jersey/Away Jersey, serial-numbered to 15.)
- Prime I (Glove/Wristband/Football/Patch/Home Jersey/Away Jersey, serial-numbered #’d to 10.)
2012 Topps Prime Football is scheduled for released the week of October, 1. Hobby boxes will contain 10 packs of six cards and should sell in the $100/box range. See the preview images and checklist below.
