Ten years ago, Albert Pujols burst onto the hobby scene with Topps’ iconic autographed rookie cards. Despite being in the news primarily for his contract negotiations instead of his game in recent months, his career since that debut has been nothing short of remarkable. Pujols signed trading cards, especially his rookie cards, are considered some of the most valuable and sought after in the current collecting generation.
To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Pujols rookie cards, Topps says it’s paying “tribute” with a special buyback program.
The company is inserting 30 redemption cards into its 2011 Topps Tribute product, each redeemable for a signed Pujols rookie card.
Winners will receive one of the following:
*2001 Bowman Chrome Autograph
*2001 Topps Finest Autograph
*2001 Topps Reserve Autograph
Collectors will be notified of which card they will be receiving once they’ve entered the redemption code’s pin number at Topps.com.
The 2001 Bowman Chrome autographed card is the big prize, with highly graded copies often selling for $3500 and up.
