One of Topps’ most successful products continues with the release of additional product information and photos for its upcoming 2011 Heritage set.
Again, the company pays tribute to a baseball card design from the past with next year’s cards featuring the design and various elements that were included in the 1962 Topps set. Perhaps no set to date has been a better candidate for the Heritage line than the ’62s with their unique wood grain borders, “baseball buck” and “baseball stamp” inserts.
Topps will bring both of those insert sets back along with planting one original ’62 Topps card in every two boxes. The usual array of inserts, autographs and relics will be included. Six inserts will be found in each box with one on-card autograph or relic per box. Black border, refractor and chrome parallels will return and Mickey Mantle is among the cut signature cards that will be available in the product.
One unique element will be the ‘minted in ’62’ insert program in which a moment from the 1962 season is captured on a card, on which a coin minted in 1962 will be inserted, ranging from a penny to a silver dollar.
High number short prints will return again, which, unfortunately will make completing a set very expensive.
