Topps has revealed its list of short printed autograph cards–and other quirks–inside its newly-released Allen & Ginter set.
Red ink, short prints, black lights and gold one-of-ones are part of the 2009 Allen & Ginter product from Topps.
The company has released its list of several unannounced short printed autographs, relics and inserts in the recently-released trading card set.
Collectors chasing the autographed cards of baseball stars appearing in this year’s set may have to spend a little more. David Wright, David Ortiz, Ryan Howard and Miguel Cabrera are among those who have signed less than 50 cards, ten of which were signed in red ink rather than traditional blue or black. Quirky as always, the set also includes an “autographed” card from the Invisible Man that can only be revealed by viewing it under a black light.
Allen & Ginter has proven to have big fans but also its share of critics. Much of the content is decidedly non-baseball and has included hair relic cards and subjects not normally associated with the four major sports just like the 19th century original. Other collectors like the huge variety and hard-to-find inserts. There has been no shortage of buyers. over 6700 A&G listings are are currently on eBay.
