Several cards from the rare 1933 Butter Cream set are among 563 lots in the new Sterling Sports online auction.
Only a few hundred cards from the set issued by Union City Confectionery in New Jersey 83 years ago are known to exist and seven are in the Sterling catalog including Jimmie Foxx, Lefty Grove, Fred Lindstrom, Pepper Martin, Lloyd Waner and Gabby Hartnett. All have been authent
icated and graded by SGC.
The auction also includes a scarce 1912 E270 Colgan’s Chips Tris Speaker Red Border SGC 60, several T206 cards with rare backs, a T205 ‘stats on back’ Dolly Gray variation graded SGC 60, 1949 Leaf Babe Ruth, 1934 Goudey Lou Gehrig and rookie cards from the likes of Roy Campanella, Harmon Killebrew, Frank Robinson, Don Drysdale, Nolan Ryan and Jerry West.
Graded and ungraded singles are offered from throughout the 20th century, including dozens of Hall of Famers from all four sports.
Among the memorabilia offered in the sale is a Babe Ruth pocket knife/keychain and a seldom seen vintage Swell trading cards vending display box.
