After making headlines with its sale of an early 1920s Babe Ruth Yankees jersey for $4.4 million, SCP Auctions is back with its mid-summer monthly internet auction that launches next week. A 1920s era Ty Cobb game-used bat will be among the premier items in the sale that opens July 11.
The Cobb bat is just part of a vast array of vintage and modern game-used items that will be up for bid. SCP is also offering a selection of vintage and modern autographed memorabilia including numerous Ruth items like a 1938 Brooklyn Dodgers team signed baseball that also includes Mel Ott.
Card collectors will also find an extensive selection of Pre and Post-War material in the 800+ lots including a 1948-49 Leaf Satchel Paige and numerous complete or near complete vintage baseball card sets.
Several championship rings have been consigned including a 1946-47 Philadelphia Warriors and a 1982 North Carolina salesman’s sample Michael Jordan model.
Auction bidding concludes on Wednesday, July 25.
The company’s Premier Auction in May generated $12.2 million with the Ruth jersey, Dmitri Young card collection generating national interest.
